Your Union Life InsuranceEvery member of The Memphis
Fire Fighters Association, Local 1784 receives life insurance as a
benefit of membership. Coverage is as follows: Active Members
Until Retirement $20,000 Retirees
Up to Age 65
$10,000 Age 65 and older $5,000 In addition, when a member dies, the member?s beneficiary listed on the above policy receives $500 from the Local. The money is given to the beneficiary as soon as possible after we receive notification of the death. Optional Life Insurance Active members also have the
opportunity to buy optional life insurance through the Union from
the National Conference On Public Employee Retirement Systems Plan (NCPERS).
The cost is $6.00 per pay period. This is an age-based decreasing
term life insurance benefit that will be paid to any beneficiary you
name if you die from any cause. New Members may buy this insurance at the time they join the Union. Current members may buy the insurance during open enrollment periods only. Members who have this insurance when they retire can carry it over. However, members who do not have the insurance when they retire are not eligible to participate after retirement. |
